Kempsville Center for Behavioral Health has partnered with MOCA – Virginia Contemporary Art Museum. We are excited to present “Kempsville Expressions”; an art exhibit filled with works created by the teens working through our residential treatment program at KCBH. The exhibit will be displayed at MOCA until February 5th and ticket prices/hours for MOCA can be found at their website: http://virginiamoca.org

The exhibit show cases the talent, insight and emotions of the teens who are engaging in rigorous mental health treatment and finding their way to mindfulness. The collection was guided with the direction of Kempsville Center Art teacher ,Joseph Austin, (“Mr. Joey), who has been teaching students with special needs for 7 years. Joey graduated with a BA in World Studies, a M.Ed. in Christian Education. While an undergraduate he studied art at the VCU School of the Arts and now shares his talent and skills with children of all ages. He uses his artistic gift to show children how to tap into their own creative ability, developing beautiful works with their own hands and imaginations.
